Daryl Kulak - Author
Daryl Kulak lives in central Ohio with his wife and cat. He was raised six miles outside a small town in Western Canada. In his childhood, he spent most of his time doing yardwork on his family's acreage and walking around the prairie with a pellet gun.
After graduating from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), he worked and travelled around the country and the world before settling in Ohio in the early 1990s. His profession was software development for forty years until he retired in 2023. Since then he has dedicated himself to being a good husband, writing fiction and playing music.
Some of Daryl's favorite authors are Elizabeth Gilbert (City of Girls), Iain Banks (The Wasp Factory), Heather Fawcett (Encylopedia of Faeries), Kristen Lepionka [she writes about Ohio!] (The Last Place You Look), Elizabeth Kostova [she writes about Bulgaria!] (The Historian), Tim Tigner (Pushing Brilliance), Lexi Freiman (The Book of Ayn), Sarah J. Maas (Throne of Glass), Rachel Joyce (Miss Benson's Beetle), Susan Wiggs (The Oysterville Sewing Circle), Graeme Simsion (The Rosie Project), Alexander McCall Smith (The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency).
Daryl's favorite types of music are classic rock/punk (Kate Bush, BTO, Steely Dan, The Clash), heavy metal (Deep Purple, Nickelback, Rush), country/rockabilly (Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, Chris Stapleton, Steve Earle) and a lot of new music too (boygenius, Panic! at the Disco, Florence & The Machine, Natalie Merchant, Noah Kahan, Dua Lipa).
Daryl writes short stories and publishes them on two websites (available at no charge):

Daryl's other interests are travel, gourmet & everyday cooking, holistic healthcare, renewable energy and biomimicry.
